Chiefs’ Andy Reid Addresses Xavier Worthy Injury for Ravens Game

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy came into this season with incredible hopes and expectations. However, in Week 1, Worthy collided with teammate Travis Kelce while running a route and dislocated his shoulder. That cost him the rest of the game against the Los Angeles Chargers and the past two weeks as well.

Worthy, who promised to be a key piece of the Chiefs' offense this year, was a limited participant in practice all of last week, leading up to Kansas City's matchup against the New York Giants on Sunday night.

He is again practicing this week in hopes of a return against the Baltimore Ravens this Sunday. On Wednesday, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid addressed Worthy's injury situation and status.

"We'll just evaluate him and take it day by day, and we'll see," Reid said, according to A to Z Sports' Charles Goldman.

While this does not provide much of a clear picture for Worthy heading into Week 4, Chiefs fans are optimistic they will be able to see their star wideout back on the field against the Ravens.

Worthy was fantastic as a rookie last season. After the Chiefs selected him with the 28th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, Worthy had 59 receptions for 638 yards and six touchdowns. The speedster, who played his college football with the Texas Longhorns, was also used in the running game last season, as he had 20 carries for 104 yards and three more scores on the ground. Worthy capped his season with an outstanding performance in a Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, racking up eight receptions for 157 yards and two touchdowns.

In the absence of Worthy, Tyquan Thornton, JuJu Smith-Schuster and Hollywood Brown have picked up the slack at the wide receiver position. However, if Worthy can play this week, it will be a big boost for Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs.

Baltimore (1-2) visits Kansas City (1-2) at 4:25 p.m. ET Sunday on CBS.
