Chiefs' Andy Reid Offers Hollywood Brown Injury Update
Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

The one thing that Kansas City Chiefs receiver Marquise "Hollywood" Brown wanted to avoid this offseason was another injury.

Having started the offseason well, in an attempt to become more familiar with the offense and Patrick Mahomes, Brown went down with a lower leg injury a couple of days ago and hasn't practiced since.

In a year where Mahomes needs all his weapons, the hope is that Brown won't be out too long so he can then bank crucial reps ahead of the new season.

And as training camp continues, head coach Andy Reid has offered an update on his weapon.

“Making progress, but it's in that ankle area,” Reid said. “So, we just want to make sure it's right, that's how we want to come out of this thing. He is making progress, but we'll just see. It's not serious. When I say serious, I'm talking about surgery. Doesn't look like he's going to have to have surgery, but we got to let it heal up and go.”

So, the Chiefs are playing the cautious game with their receiver, and given we are at the start of August, that feels like the smart play.

With a little over a month until Week 1, the Chiefs will want their full array of weapons on the field against the Los Angeles Chargers, but also, the franchise will not want to rush back a player they have high hopes for in 2025.

Injury ruined Brown's offseason and regular season last year, and Kansas City will hope it doesn't again.
