Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs saw their 10-year playoff run come to an end during the 2025 NFL season, finishing 6-11 and missing the postseason for the first time since 2014. The season ended on a six-game losing streak, and quarterback Patrick Mahomes suffered a torn ACL that cost him the final three games.
After the dismal season, the Kansas City Chiefs have made several changes to Reid’s coaching staff. Eric Bieniemy is expected to return to replace Matt Nagy as offensive coordinator, while Chad O'Shea joined the team as the new wide receivers coach. But Kansas City is not the only team to make coaching moves.
Following a Week 18 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers that caused them to miss the playoffs, the Baltimore Ravens elected to dismiss head coach John Harbaugh after 18 seasons. The Super Bowl-winning coach was later hired by the New York Giants as their next head coach, moving Harbaugh back to the NFC East for the first time since his tenure as special teams coordinator and defensive backs coach with the Philadelphia Eagles from 1998 to 2007.
Reid knows a thing or two about what it's like for a head coach to get fired. In fact, he was dismissed by the Eagles back after 14 seasons as the team's head coach, overlapping with Harbaugh from 1999 until Harbaugh left to take the Ravens job. This came following the 2012 season when Philadelphia finished with a 4-12 record, its worst under Reid.
And during Harbaugh’s introductory press conference with the Giants on Tuesday, he revealed that Reid sent him a message following his firing, offering advice based on Reid’s own experience winning three Super Bowls with the Chiefs after leaving the Eagles.
"Andy's a man of few words," Harbaugh said. "His four words to me were 'change can be good.' That's what he said. 'Change can be good.' And he was excited. He's fired up for us. He's a good friend. And yeah, how about we do this? We'll sign up for that deal right now. What he did in Kansas City, let's do that."
“Change can be good.”

While Reid and Harbaugh continue to build their coaching staffs for the 2026 season, both teams will be selecting in the top 10 of the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft (Giants No. 5, Chiefs No. 9), which is set to begin on April 23.
