Jawaan Taylor is no superstar for the Kansas City Chiefs, but there’s no denying that the veteran offensive lineman has played a key role for the team over the past couple of years. This is exactly why the Chiefs could face a problem if the 27-year-old ends up missing time after suffering an injury in Sunday’s high-profile matchup against the Buffalo Bills.
Taylor, who has started all nine games for the Chiefs thus far, was forced to exit against the Bills in the second half due to an ankle issue. The team provided an update on the former Florida Gators star, and it could spell trouble.
Taylor is currently in his third season with the Chiefs. He first joined the team in 2023 via free agency, signing a four-year, $80 million contract. This was after he spent the first four years of his career with the Jacksonville Jaguars, who selected him as the 35th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
In three years with the Chiefs, Taylor has missed just one game. He is now in danger of being forced to miss action, depending on the severity of his injury against Buffalo.
The Chiefs took to social media to announce an update on Taylor during the fourth quarter.
"Jawaan Taylor is questionable to return (ankle)," the team posted on X.

It was third-year OL Wanya Morris who took Taylor’s place amid the latter’s injury. Morris could get more run if Taylor misses time, and with rookie Josh Simmons still out due to a personal issue.
Pass protection was a significant concern for the Chiefs against the Bills, and this problem could be compounded amid Taylor's potential absence.
As of writing, the Bills are up 28-21 with just two minutes remaining in the game.
