Kareem Hunt and the Kansas City Chiefs secured their fourth win of the 2025 NFL season in Week 7, taking down Geno Smith and the Las Vegas Raiders 31-0. Now, Hunt and the Chiefs will turn their attention to Week 8, eyeing a third-straight win when they host Marcus Mariota and the Washington Commanders on "Monday Night Football."
Hunt has emerged as one of the Chiefs’ top running backs to start the season. While splitting carries with Isiah Pacheco, he’s logged 53 rushes for 205 yards and three touchdowns. Pacheco, meanwhile, has recorded 66 carries for 271 yards and one rushing touchdown, along with another score through the air.
In the first quarter against the Raiders, Hunt was forced to leave the game early after suffering a bone bruise in his knee. The former Toledo standout later returned but managed just four carries for 18 yards, while Pacheco and Brashard Smith combined for 19 carries, 96 yards, and a touchdown.
Leading up to the Commanders matchup, Hunt did not participate in Thursday’s practice due to his knee injury. However, on Friday, the Chiefs announced he returned as a limited participant, though his status for Monday’s game remains uncertain. Offensive linemen Josh Simmons (personal) and Trey Smith (back) also remained sidelined.
"Kareem Hunt was limited in practice today," the Chiefs wrote on X. "Josh Simmons and Trey Smith did not practice."

Hunt has been a dependable running back throughout his career with the Chiefs and the Cleveland Browns. However, he has yet to surpass his rookie season in 2017, when he posted 272 carries for a career-high 1,327 yards and eight touchdowns.
Hunt and the Chiefs will take on the Commanders on Monday at 8:15 p.m. ET.
