The Kansas City Chiefs are just over two weeks removed from a sluggish performance in Super Bowl LIX against the Philadelphia Eagles. They trailed the entire game and ultimately lost 40-22, falling short of their goal to win a third consecutive Lombardi Trophy and make NFL history.
However, with Patrick Mahomes at quarterback and Andy Reid at head coach, they’ll remain the front-runner out of the AFC until proven otherwise. As the team enters an offseason filled with major question marks, the Chiefs made two key coaching announcements on Monday.
Kansas City reportedly added Matt House as the Senior Defensive Assistant and Chris Orr who will become the Defensive Quality Control Coach.

Orr, hailing from DeSoto, Texas, is a former linebacker who played for the Wisconsin Badgers in college and the Carolina Panthers in the NFL. He recently departed Jackson State, where he served as linebackers coach, to join the Chiefs' staff.
House has an extensive coaching background at both the collegiate and NFL levels, and he has a strong relationship with Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, having worked as a quality control coach under Spagnuolo during their time with the Rams.
In 2019, House was named the Chiefs' linebacker coach before moving to LSU in 2021 as defensive coordinator. After three seasons at LSU, he was let go and subsequently returned to coaching linebackers at the NFL with the Jacksonville Jaguars last season.
Now, he’ll rejoining Kansas City’s staff, working under a familiar face as the team looks to reload their roster with a number of key free agents hitting the market on the defensive side of the ball.
