Patrick Mahomes did not score a touchdown for the Kansas City Chiefs in Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts. The two-time All-Pro quarterback completed 29-of-46 passes for 352 yards and one interception, but he did just enough to lead his team to a much-needed 23-20 victory over one of the best teams in the AFC this season. The Chiefs needed an extra period to take down the Colts, but in the end, Mahomes and Co. were able to snap their two-game losing streak to improve to 6-5 on the season.
It's a quick turnaround for Kansas City as it returns to action on Thursday for a highly anticipated Thanksgiving showdown against the Dallas Cowboys. Mahomes, however, popped up on the team’s injury report on Monday.
The Chiefs were in dire need of a win heading into Sunday’s contest. They suffered back-to-back losses against the Buffalo Bills and the Denver Broncos, which put their playoff hopes in jeopardy. The Colts, on the other hand, had won five out of their last six games before facing the Chiefs.
After Sunday’s hard-fought overtime victory, the Chiefs decided not to practice on Monday. As such, the team submitted an estimated injury report. Mahomes was listed as one of the players on the injury list.
According to beat reporter Matt Derick of ChiefsDigest.com, Mahomes was favoring his groin in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game. It appears that the two-time NFL MVP sustained the injury during the Chiefs’ touchdown drive in the final frame. He was also seen hobbling off the field after the sequence.

No real surprises. Don’t expect to see Trey Smith or Noah Gray play vs. Dallas. The three to watch Tuesday are WR Rashee Rice, WR Xavier Worthy and LB Leo Chenal.

The silver lining is that Mahomes was projected as a full participant. Nevertheless, it’s still not a welcome sight to see the team’s cornerstone quarterback on any injury report, especially with the Chiefs playing twice in five days.
At this point, it does not appear that Mahomes’ groin is a considerable concern. However, his participation in Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s practice should determine his final status for the Cowboys game.
Dallas will host Thursday’s high-profile Thanksgiving matchup at AT&T Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 4:30 p.m. ET.
