The Kansas City Chiefs' famous mascot, KC Wolf, was introduced to fans on March 23, 1989, and it has been a popular part of Kansas City games since then.

Besides making appearances at the football games, KC Wolf can be requested to participate in events such as birthdays, weddings, parades, grand openings and company picnics, among others.

Dan Meers was the original KC Wolf mascot, but he retired in June 2025 after being a part of 375 career games, including five Super Bowl trips.

Chiefs owner Clark Hunt said at the time that Meers established KC Wolf "not only as a source of energy and enthusiasm on gamedays, but as a symbol of pride and passion for all of Chiefs Kingdom."

In Week 15, Meers is making his return to Kansas City and Arrowhead Stadium in a different role.

"Dan Meers, who donned the suit as KC Wolf for 35 years, is this week’s Drum Honoree."

Meers is set to be the Drum Honoree for the home game on Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers.

When he retired, Meers released a lengthy statement, calling himself a "blessed man."

"To say I'm a blessed man is an understatement. For the past 35 years I've had my dream job. I've worked for the team I love, in the city I love, with the people I love. After all these years I certainly hope Chiefs Kingdom knows just how much I love and appreciate them. I have memories and stories that will last me a lifetime," Meers said.

"I especially want to thank my family, the Hunt family, the Chiefs organization and the greatest fans in the world for all the love, support, and laughs we've shared over the past 35 years. I'm truly a blessed, blessed man!"

Now, he is returning to Kansas City in a pivotal game with the Chiefs' playoff hopes hanging by a thread.

Kick off is on Sunday at 1:00 pm ET with the game being broadcast on CBS.
