Chiefs Announce Surprise Roster Change After Win Over Browns

Over the weekend the Kansas City Chiefs picked up their 13th win of the season with a 21-7 victory over the Cleveland Browns.

With the win, combined with a Detroit Lions loss to the Buffalo Bills, the Chiefs now own the best record in the NFL and hold a two-game lead over the Bills for the No. 1 seed in the AFC. Just a day after the win, Kansas City appears to have made a notable roster move.

On Monday afternoon former first-round pick Clyde Edwards-Helaire took to social media with a message for Chiefs Kingdom, which appears to confirm his release from the team.

"Love ya KC! A family I didn’t know I needed, y’all made a Kid from Baton Rouge dreams come true! To Chiefs Kingdom , its all love and the support I had in troubling times will forever be unmatched from you guys! With love! -Clydro," he said in a message on social media this afternoon.

Not long after the message from Edwards-Helaire, the Chiefs confirmed the news with a message on social media. "We have waived RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire," it read plainly.

Ahead of the 2024 season, the former LSU star admitted he's suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder stemming from an incident where he and another LSU player were trying to sell an electronic item when one of them fatally shot an 18-year-old man trying to rob them.

"Sometimes I'm admitted into the hospital, something like I can't stop throwing up and it's just, I [don't] know [anything] pretty much to stop it," he told ESPN.

"Real bad dehydration ... but it's really just mentally just not being there. It is one of those things where early on guys who kind of pay attention like Travis [Kelce] and Kadarius [Toney], at times they can even, they'll know ahead of time like, 'OK, Clyde's not laughing, he's not giggling, he's not himself.'"

He did not play in a game for the Chiefs this season.
