The Kansas City Chiefs currently have the No. 31 pick in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft next week.
They got to Super Bowl LIX and had the chance to win their third consecutive Super Bowl before getting crushed by the Philadelphia Eagles, 40-22. The Eagles were up 24-0 at halftime and 34-6 at the end of the third quarter.
They have made some moves in free agency to shore up some depth, but the draft is really where they make their mark with developing players. Even though they have the second-to-last pick in the first round, according to ESPN's Matt Miller, they are looking to move up in the first round.
"I've heard that the Kansas City Chiefs are actively looking to trade up in Round 1," Miller wrote, via ESPN. "They signed left tackle Jaylon Moore in free agency but were otherwise quiet, opting to re-sign their own versus hitting the open market. A move up in Round 1 would likely be for a long-term offensive tackle solution."
Protecting quarterback Patrick Mahomes is of utmost importance since he is by far the Chiefs' best player. This thing doesn't work if he isn't on the field.
He is the best quarterback in the league and had another strong season in 2024, finishing with 3,928 yards through the air, 26 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.
Outside of getting some help in the trenches, the Chiefs could look to add more playmakers on offense since they could use more help at the wide receiver position.
The Chiefs will be aggressive when needed since they continue to be all in on winning Super Bowls with Mahomes playing at an elite level.
Let's see if the Chiefs can pull off a trade in the first round when it starts next Thursday.
