Chiefs, DE Emmanuel Ogbah Agree To Deal

Ogbah played in Kansas City during the 2020 campaign. He helped the Chiefs win a Super Bowl that year before embarking on a lengthy tenure in Miami. Ogbah landed a free agent deal with the Jaguars last April, but he has spent a much longer period on the open market in 2026.

After playing out the first three years of his rookie contract in Cleveland, Ogbah was traded to the Chiefs. During his walk year, the former second-round pick made 10 appearances and four starts, recording 5.5 sacks along the way. As a free agent, Ogbah initially joined the Dolphins on a two-year pact. That was followed by a considerable raise, with a four-year Miami deal worth an average of $16.35MM per season being finalized in 2022.

Ogbah was cut partway through that pact but wound up re-signing in Miami on a less expensive one-year deal. Efforts were made to keep the Oklahoma State product in the fold once again last spring, but Ogbah ultimately signed with Jacksonville. In 13 games as a member of the Jags, Ogbah logged a 38% snap share but managed just 0.5 sacks and seven quarterback pressures. The 32-year-old played for $3.25MM in 2025, but it would come as little surprise if a less lucrative pact were to be in place this time around.

The Chiefs released Mike Danna and then lost Charles Omenihu during free agency this offseason. Janarius Robinson, meanwhile, is unsigned at this point. Kansas City’s pass rush depth chart features George Karlaftis, Felix Anudike-Uzomah and second-round rookie R Mason Thomas but room existed for a rotational addition such as this one. Ogbah will aim to carve out a backup role in time for roster cuts later this month.

Kansas City entered Tuesday with less than $4MM in cap space, ranking near the bottom of the league in that regard. Major roster moves will be challenging through the remainder of the summer as a result, but this Ogbah signing could prove to be a worthwhile low-cost addition if he manages to produce as a rotational presence.
