The Kansas City Chiefs are currently on their bye week in Week 10 of the NFL season.
Despite not playing in Week 10, the Chiefs were spotlighted for a trade they nearly finalized ahead of the NFL's trade deadline.
According to Adam Schefter, Kansas City was making a strong push to acquire Seattle Seahawks linebacker Boye Mafe. While some thought it was a done deal, the Seahawks backed out.
"A near deal: At Tuesday’s NFL deadline, the Chiefs made a late strong push to acquire Seahawks linebacker Boye Mafe, per sources," Schefter said. "Some thought the deal would get done; one source even thought it was completed. But right before the deadline, Seattle opted to hold on to Mafe."

Boye Mafe has been with the Seattle Seahawks since 2022. Mafe was drafted in the second round of the 2022 draft out of Minnesota. He's been a solid contributor for Seattle but has slowly fallen out of his role this season.
During his fourth season in the NFL, Maye has posted four tackles and two pass deflections.
The Kansas City Chiefs' defense has been streaky during the 2025 NFL season.
Kansas City relies on linebacker Nick Bolton in the middle of the field, but aside from the former Missouri star's production, the Chiefs are thin at the position.
While the Chiefs start Bolton at middle linebacker, they're also playing Leo Chenal and Drue Tranquill on opposite ends. Boye Mafe would've given great depth at the position, but will have to roll without the Seahawks linebacker after a failed trade attempt.
