When it rains, it pours for the Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver corps.
If losing Rashee Rice due to a violation of his parole and knee surgery wasn't bad enough, it now looks like Xavier Worthy is far from healthy. According to Chiefs insider Charles Goldman of A to Z Sports, the Texas product was spotted wearing a non-contact jersey at OTAs.
Given his history of injuries and rather lanky frame, this should sound the alarms for Andy Reid's team.
“Chiefs third-year WR Xavier Worthy was spotted in a clip from practice wearing the yellow jersey, which signals no-contact,” Goldman reported.
Worthy dealt with multiple injuries last season, including some friendly fire from Travis Kelce. Given his skinny frame, there were major concerns about his ability to withstand the wear and tear of the pros when the Chiefs took him in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
“Obviously, this is a non-contact practice anyway, but this is meant to signal that he’s hurt and not 100% healthy,” Goldman added. “If you’ll recall, Worthy suffered a labrum injury in Week 1 of last season after colliding with Travis Kelce on a routine play in Brazil. He played the entire 2025 NFL season with the injury before having surgery to repair it in January. That’s in addition to an ankle injury he suffered in Week 5.”
The Chiefs are looking to bounce back from a disappointing campaign. Patrick Mahomes is bending over backward to be out there in Week 1 after tearing his ACL and LCL late in the season. With Eric Bieniemy back as offensive coordinator, expectations are as high as the stakes.
All eyes will be on Worthy, a former first-round pick who has failed to live up to the hype as one of the fastest pass-catchers in the game. The Chiefs' confidence in Rice and Worthy could come back to haunt them this season, especially if they fail to stay on the field once again.
