Chiefs hoping Emmanuel Ogbah can revitalize career in reunion

After earning a Super Bowl ring with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2019, Emmanuel Ogbah is returning with hopes of experiencing another championship run. 

Following one lone season in Jacksonville, Ogbah, a defensive end who has played multiple positions throughout his career, has agreed to a one-year deal with the Chiefs, according to a Tuesday morning report from ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Signing Ogbah, 32, is the latest example of Chiefs head coach Andy Reid bringing back a player looking to revitalize his career. He played a key role in one of the Chiefs' recent championship teams, stacking 32 tackles with three pass deflections and a forced fumble in the 2019 regular season. 

But as far as what type of player the Chiefs are getting now, Ogbah was only able to play sparingly 2025, totaling just 15 tackles in 13 games with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

However, there's reason to believe Ogbah could end up being a bargain find for the Chiefs. He did record 49 tackles with a pair of pass deflections and an interception in 2024, playing linebacker, his final season of his five years with the Miami Dolphins, the team he signed with as a free agent following the Chiefs' LIV Super Bowl win over the San Francisco 49ers. 

Emmanuel Ogbah has endured an up-and-down career since leaving Kansas City 

Ogbah's tenure with the Dolphins saw him enjoy two of his best individual seasons while also enduring a couple of his worst. He made 42 tackles with three forced fumbles in 16 games in 2020 and then followed that production with 41 tackles and a career-high 12 pass deflections in 2021. 

However, he only registered 11 tackles in nine games in 2022 and just 20 in almost a full season's work in 2023. That led to the Dolphins moving on from him and letting him sign with Jacksonville. 

The Chiefs are now banking on Ogbah being able to turn back the clock in a place of fond memories in 2026.
