The Kansas City Chiefs are one game away from winning a third straight Super Bowl title and etching their name into the NFL history books.
After such a glittering run, the Chiefs have the experience not many other teams have in the NFL's penultimate game...but not every Chief player has been to the Super Bowl before.
Veteran DeAndre Hopkins, who has played in the league for over a decade, hasn't ever gotten close to the Super Bowl. Well, he's about to play in one now.
“It's amazing, it's the best feeling in the world,” Hopkins said. “It's a dream come true honestly. I wouldn't trade it for anything.”
It does seem odd that a player of Hopkins' caliber has made it to a Super Bowl or even a championship game, but when he was traded from the Tennessee Titans to Kansas City, that was no doubt the motivation.
Now, after more than playing his role in getting the Chiefs to this point, Hopkins will need to lean on all his veteran experience as to not let the moment get too big for him.
After all, the build-up to the Super Bowl is unlike anything he would have seen or experienced before, and some players can get fatigued mentally before the game is even played.
Luckily for DeAndre, he has ample players around him who have been here before in Patrick Mahomes , Chris Jones, Travis Kelce, and more to help him navigate what will undoubtedly be a surreal experience in New Orleans.
