On Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs had a productive day at training camp, which head coach Andy Reid described as such. Specifically, Reid saw "good work" today, and even for a non-padded practice, he said the Chiefs "got a lot done."

It's these days in July and August that set the table for the long season ahead, one that often goes into mid-February for a franchise like the Chiefs. So Reid knows what he's talking about when it comes to laying such a solid foundation.

The frustrating part of Chiefs camp, and this is true for every team in every preseason, is that some players aren't able to take the field due to injuries, which keep them from taking the same steps forward as everyone else. That might not matter for some veterans, but younger players who need reps or newer faces who are trying to ingratiate themselves will fall behind the rest of the roster.

The Chiefs' injuries on Sunday were all of the lingering variety, with no new concerns reported. Reid provided some updates for those who've missed a few days (or more) in his remarks to the press. Along with a rather frustrating update on Hollywood Brown, Reid also gave some updates on a few players. Here's what he said and where things stand.

Kristian Fulton, CB

Andy Reid admitted that Kristian Fulton is still without a clear timeline to join the Chiefs in St. Joseph. He's the only player who remains on the team's Physically Unable to Play list, while others like tight end Tre Watson and offensive tackle Jawaan Taylor have since returned to the field.

"We’re hoping. We’re just kinda taking it day-by-day. He started to run here, so we’ll see where it goes," said Reid in his press conference. That's at least some level of progress, even if it sounds like Fulton might sit out for the foreseeable future.

Skyy Moore, WR

Skyy Moore has been out with a hamstring injury for the last several days, but the fourth-year vet was able to return to practice with a compression sleeve on his leg. Per Reid, "Skyy Moore came back and did some work. Easing himself back in off the hamstring."

Moore is an interesting case to make the roster as a player who was so highly considered that he was taken in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft. That said, he's been a non-target at a pass-catching position, even when healthy, which was another layer of frustration last year.

Given Reid's praise for players like Jason Brownlee and Tyquan Thornton at the same position, Moore might be on the outside looking in already for having missed even more time.

Jared Wiley, TE

Jared Wiley is a frustrating case as a second-year tight end who is still going to be viewed as a relative newcomer, knowing he missed most of his rookie campaign due to injury. Wiley has been in and out of camp for the Chiefs, but the team's training staff is just trying to monitor the situation.

"He’s got a little swelling in there, so we’re just going to have to watch that," said Reid. "We’re trying to limit his reps and ease him in but it swelled up a little bit, so we’re just keeping an eye on it."

That leaves Wiley in a sort of day-to-day unofficial status. That's not great considering Robert Tonyan looks the part as the Chiefs TE3. Will Brett Veach keep four tight ends on the roster? And what does this mean for Jake Briningstool or Watson? Lots of questions at tight end this year for the Chiefs.
