Chiefs LB Nick Bolton reveals goal for next season

Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Nick Bolton isn't satisfied with one Super Bowl ring. The second-year linebacker wants to repeat.

"It's been a blast, this season, man," Bolton said recently on "NFL Now." "The people we had in the building, the players, coaches, support staff, Chiefs Kingdom, they made it special. We're excited. The job is not done. We gotta come back and repeat next year."

Along with Willie Gay Jr. and Leo Chenal, the Chiefs will bring back their entire starting linebacker unit. All three still are on their rookie contracts.

Bolton, a second-round pick out of Missouri in 2021, finished Super Bowl LVII with a game-high nine tackles, including eight solo stops.

In the second quarter, he recovered a Jalen Hurts fumble and returned it 36 yards for a touchdown to tie the score at 14. Bolton actually got into the end zone twice, but on the second time, the play was ruled an incomplete pass after it initially was called a fumble by Eagles running back Miles Sanders.

During the broadcast, Fox NFL rules analyst Mike Pereira agreed with the ruling. Bolton also agreed, but a slow-motion replay showed Sanders might have fumbled.

If the play had stood, it's possible Bolton would have been named Super Bowl MVP with two touchdowns.

"That would have been a nice thing to end the season off with," Bolton said. "But (Patrick Mahomes) more than deserves it."
