The hits keep coming for the 6-8 Kansas City Chiefs.
After falling out of playoff contention with last week's loss to the LA Chargers (which also saw Patrick Mahomes go down with season-ending ACL and LCL tears), the three-time defending AFC champions will now be without a pair of additional players for the rest of the year.
Kansas City is currently in line to land a top 11 pick for the first time since Andy Reid traded up to get Mahomes back in 2017. And with three games left against the Titans, Broncos and Raiders, they may be able to position themselves to draft even higher by season's end.
Per ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter , the Chiefs placed fourth-year linebacker Leo Chenal (shoulder) and right offensive tackle Jawaan Taylor (elbow) on season-ending injured reserve following the Chargers loss.
The team also reportedly waived running back Elijah Mitchell who appeared in one game for Kansas City in last month's 22-19 loss to the Denver Broncos.
Chenal and Taylor join Mahomes (knee), Nazeeh Johnson (shoulder), Jake Briningstool (hamstring), Wanya Morris (knee), Chris Roland-Wallace (back), Josh Simmons (wrist), Omar Norman-Lott (knee), Brandon George (undisclosed), Felix Anudike-Uzomah (hamstring), Deon Bush (Achilles), Janarius Robinson (foot), Eric Scott Jr. (undisclosed) and Keaontay Ingram (undisclosed) on IR.

Despite the mounting injuries and there being no chance for the Chiefs to make the playoffs, star tight end Travis Kelce still plans to finish out the season by playing in all three of the franchise's remaining games.
"I signed up to be a Chief, and I love doing what I do," Kelce said Friday. "I know I've been dreaming of being in these moments and playing for an NFL team since I was a kid. Getting back to that will give you more motivation than you could ever need. That's just how you need to go about work, whether you're in the [playoff] race or not. I'm going to make sure these guys know I'm out there giving them everything I got."
Kelce also called it a unique situation knowing that there's only three games left and he knows when the season ends.
At age 36, the 10-time Pro Bowler still leads the Chiefs in targets (92), receptions (67), yards (797) and touchdowns (5). Now it's just a matter of what his final tallies will be in what could be his last NFL season.
