Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs are looking to rebound after a rough 2025 season. Kansas City finished No. 3 in the AFC West at 6-11, its worst record in Reid's 13 years with the franchise. Another tough break last season came when quarterback Patrick Mahomes tore his ACL in a 16-13 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 15.

With Mahomes as the starter, the Chiefs made at least the AFC Championship Game every year prior, including winning three Super Bowls. The three-time MVP is expected to be ready by Week 1 of the 2026 season, with hopes of leading his team back on a deep playoff run.

One player who helped Kansas City make a deep playoff run in 2024 is cornerback L'Jarius Sneed. In the AFC championship game against the Baltimore Ravens, Sneed forced a fumble late in the fourth quarter against wide receiver Zay Flowers just before he could reach the end zone. On Thursday, ESPN reporter Adam Schefter reported that the two-time Super Bowl champion was meeting with Kansas City that same day for a free-agency visit.

Sneed was originally drafted by the Chiefs in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft with the No. 138 overall pick. The versatile 6-foot defensive back recorded 303 tackles, 10 interceptions, 6.5 sacks, and four forced fumbles in his four seasons in Kansas City. The Minden High School graduate was subsequently traded to the Tennessee Titans in 2024. Sneed dealt with a litany of injuries in Tennessee, appearing in only 12 games and recording zero interceptions.

Defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo has been an integral part of the Chiefs' championship-winning teams. His aggressive defensive style has served Kansas City well, and the franchise will see if it can rehabilitate Sneed back into a serviceable starter.

"Free-agent CB L'Jarius Sneed is visiting today with the Kansas City Chiefs," Schefter wrote on X. "Sneed played for the Chiefs before they traded him to the Titans."

Kansas City will open the 2026 season against the Denver Broncos on "Monday Night Football" on Sept. 14.
