The Kansas City Chiefs drafted Travis Kelce No. 63 out of Cincinnati in the 2013 NFL Draft, and he's still giving them a return on investment.

The 36-year-old entered Sunday's matchup with the Denver Broncos leading the team with 41 catches and 540 receiving yards. He was also tied for second with three scoring catches, trailing wide receiver Hollywood Brown (four).

Kelce hasn't notched 1,000 receiving yards in a season since 2022, but he's still a key target for future Hall of Famer Patrick Mahomes. The signal-caller found him for a 21-yard score with 9:57 left in the fourth quarter that gave the Chiefs a 19-16 lead, which was also a history-making moment.

Kansas City revealed that history on social media after the play.

"The best TE ever just keeps getting better. Congrats, [Kelce] on securing the most touchdowns in franchise history," it said.

Kelce's scoring grab gave him 84 total career touchdowns, passing former running back Priest Holmes. The Ohio native is also third all-time in receiving yards among tight ends, per StatMuse.

Travis Kelce Adds Longevity to Hall of Fame Legacy

Kelce's prime was as good as it gets. The 6-foot-5, 250-pounder notched 1,000-plus yards for seven straight seasons, including 1,300-plus in 2018 and 2022. The three-time Super Bowl champion also came just shy of 1,000 in 2023, totaling 984 yards in 15 games.

While Kelce is no longer at that level, he's still efficient. The seven-time All-Pro entered Sunday with 13.2 yards per catch, tied for the second-highest mark of his career. He also caught 77.3 percent of his targets, which would be his highest-ever mark across an entire season.

Part of why Kelce is Kansas City's top receiver this year is the missed time from second-year wideout Xavier Worthy and third-year receiver Rashee Rice. They're both back in the lineup, but Rice was suspended for the first six games of the season and Worthy missed two contests with a shoulder injury.

However, Kelce still led the Chiefs with nine catches for 91 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 22-19 loss. Meanwhile, Rice and Worthy combined for nine catches and 63 yards.

Kansas City is now 5-5 and outside of playoff positioning in the AFC standings. Up next is a home matchup with the 8-2 Indianapolis Colts in Week 12 followed by a "Thursday Night Football" road game against the Dallas Cowboys.
