Chiefs make new additions for future and for divisional round game vs. Bills

The Kansas City Chiefs have made a half-dozen roster moves on Wednesday, with roster moves for both the upcoming playoffs tilt with the Buffalo Bills and roster moves for the future. 

A pair of the moves are just making official what had already been reported, while others are brand new information.  

Recapping what we already know:

Earlier today, Chiefs HC Andy Reid announced that WR Skyy Moore had been designated to return from injured reserve. This opens up his 21-day practice window, which means he can be activated to the 53-man roster at any time in that period. That move became official on Wednesday afternoon.

On Monday, we learned that the Chiefs had won a bidding war between playoff teams to land former New York Jets practice squad S Trey Dean III. What we didn't know was the type of deal that Dean would be signing with the team. We now know that he's set to sign to the practice squad in Kansas City.

That move is a corresponding move after the team made a practice squad promotion to deal with an injury.

Cam Jones' rookie season is now over:

Chiefs rookie LB Cam Jones suffered a chest injury during the wild-card round win over the Miami Dolphins. As a result of his ailment, Jones was placed on injured reserve, which is a season-ending fate for the rookie with only three postseason games left to be played. He finished his rookie campaign appearing in 17 games with one start on the year, recording 17 total tackles, with a dozen coming in Week 18 against the Los Angeles Chargers. 

In a corresponding move, the Chiefs promoted practice squad LB Cole Christiansen to the 53-man roster. Christiansen logged special teams snaps in two games earlier this season, following two consecutive standard elevations on the practice squad. He also spent some time on the practice squad injured list with an undisclosed injury in the middle of the season.

Two new reserve/future signings for Chiefs:

The team also managed to give fans something to get excited about in the future on Wednesday. They signed a pair of players to reserve/future contracts, bringing the total to six new players added for the 2024 NFL season. 

If you're unfamiliar with these types of contracts, the players who sign them won’t officially join the team until the 2024 league year begins in March.
