Kareem Hunt and the Kansas City Chiefs secured their sixth win of the 2025 NFL season, taking down Jonathan Taylor and the Indianapolis Colts 23-20 in a Week 11 overtime thriller. Now, the Chiefs (6-5) will turn their attention to a Thanksgiving matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.

After starting the first eight games of the season, running back Isiah Pacheco went down with a knee injury he suffered in Week 8 against the Washington Commanders. He was forced to miss the next three games, including the matchup with the Colts, leaving Hunt as the starter. And Hunt delivered in Week 12 with 30 carries for 104 yards and a touchdown.

But amid Pacheco's recent injury, the Chiefs have been rumored to bring in a running back from free agency. And sure enough, right after their win over Indianapolis, Kansas City delivered on that as well, signing running back Dameon Pierce.

After spending his college career with the Florida Gators, Pierce was drafted in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans. He found early success as a rookie, rushing for 939 yards and four touchdowns. But his role diminished over the next three years before he was released ahead of the Texans’ Week 11 game this season.

"Sources: The #Chiefs are signing former #Texans RB Dameon Pierce," NFL reporter Jordan Schultz wrote on X. "Pierce had over 1,100 yards as a rookie and also has experience as a returner. The 25-year old will start on the practice squad."

Pierce could get his first chance with the Chiefs on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. ET against the Cowboys. After that, Kansas City will host the Houston Texans in Week 14's edition of "Sunday Night Football."
