Patrick Mahomes and the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs are gearing up for one of their toughest games of the season as they head to New York to face Josh Allen and the 8-2 Buffalo Bills on Sunday.
However, coach Andy Reid and company will be without star kicker Harrison Butker.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the eighth-year kicker, who had been listed as a limited participant in Thursday's practice, has been placed on the injured reserve as he is expected to undergo surgery to fix a left knee issue.
"Chiefs K Harrison Butker is expected to have surgery to trim his meniscus in his left knee, per source," Rapoport wrote on X. "That's why he's headed to IR, though he'll be back for the home stretch and playoffs."

If the former Georgia Tech star is, in fact, placed on IR, he won't be able to return until, at the very least, the Chiefs' Week 15 matchup against the Cleveland Browns.
Immediately following Butker's injury news, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Kansas City has already filled that void by signing kicker Spencer Shrader off of the New York Jets practice squad.
"Sources: Chiefs are signing kicker Spencer Shrader off the Jets practice squad and placing kicker Harrison Butker on injured reserve due to a knee injury," Schefter posted on X.

Shrader is an undrafted rookie from the 2024 class. He spent four seasons kicking for the South Florida Bulls from 2019-2023 before transferring to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish for his final college season.
Initially, Shrader signed with the Indianapolis Colts after April's draft before he was waived and added to their practice squad on Aug. 25. Shrader was elevated in Week 1 after Colts kicker Matt Gay was ruled out with an injury, making all three of his extra-point attempts.
In late October, Shrader was then signed by the Jets and played in the Week 10 game against the Arizona Cardinals, making both his field goal attempts and two extra points.
The Chiefs and Bills will battle it out on Sunday, Nov. 17, at 4:25 p.m. ET in what many anticipate to be one of the better games of the year.
