The Kansas City Chiefs delivered a commanding performance in Week 7, blanking the Las Vegas Raiders 31-0 to secure their first back-to-back win of the season. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes led the charge with 286 passing yards and three touchdowns before sitting out late in the game. Wide receiver Rashee Rice, returning from suspension, was outstanding with two touchdown receptions, while running back Isiah Pacheco added another score on the ground.

The Chiefs piled up 434 total yards, converted 30 first downs, and held possession for more than 42 minutes. Their efficient and balanced offensive display left little doubt as they dismantled their AFC West rivals.

As explosive as the offense looked, Kansas City’s defense was the true story of the night. The unit completely overwhelmed Las Vegas, allowing only 95 total yards and forcing one turnover.

The Raiders managed just three first downs and failed to convert a single third down (0-for-7), capping off Kansas City’s most dominant showing of the year.

Following the game, the Chiefs’ official account praised the defensive effort, naming it the “Team Stat of the Week”

Defensive standouts included Defensive tackle Chris Jones and Linebacker Leo Chenal, who helped stifle the Raiders’ ground attack and apply consistent pressure on the quarterback. The win pushed the Chiefs above .500 for the first time this season, improving their record to 4-3.

However, it didn’t come without setbacks. Guard Trey Smith exited in the first half with back tightness and did not return. Andy Reid confirmed afterward that Smith’s back “locked up,” and the team will monitor him during the week, according to the Kansas City Star’s Pete Sweeney. More concerning was the loss of rookie defensive tackle Omarr Norman-Lott, who suffered a torn ACL and will miss the rest of the season, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Despite the injuries, the Chiefs’ dominance on both sides of the ball highlighted their potential as contenders once again. They’ll aim to carry that momentum into Week 8 when they face the Washington Commanders, looking to extend their winning streak and continue climbing the AFC standings.
