The Kansas City Chiefs have an opportunity as an organization to make history on Sunday. With another championship win over the Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans, they'll be the first team to win three straight Super Bowls.
If that happens, Chiefs offensive lineman Joe Thuney will also make individual history.
With a win, Thuney would become just the third player in NFL history to have five Super Bowl rings.
Tom Brady owns seven. Six with the Patriots and one with the Buccaneers. Hall of Fame defensive end Charles Haley won two with the 49ers and three with the Cowboys.
Thuney won two with the Patriots alongside Brady and has already won two with the Chiefs. A win over the Eagles this month would make five total.
The only caveat here is that Thuney didn't play in last year's Super Bowl after getting injured in the playoffs. So he won't be joining Brady and Haley as the only players to play in and win five.
But Thuney was an important player in the Chiefs postseason run last year and earned his fourth ring.
Kansas City and Philadelphia will play in Super Bowl LIX on Sunday in a rematch of Super Bowl LVII two seasons ago which saw the Chiefs win 38-35. Kansas City beat San Francisco in last year's championship game in overtime for its second consecutive win.
