Chiefs OL Trey Smith goes from watching Chiefs win Super Bowl to helping them win

Kansas City Chiefs guard Trey Smith might have been playing in his first Super Bowl last weekend, but it wasn't the first time he was there with the Chiefs.

Smith was on "Good Morning Football" on Friday morning and spoke about how this was his second trip to the Big Game.

"It was a really great experience at the University of Tennessee, they had a work program called the Big Orange Combine and was able to go down there with all of my classmates. It was funny in 2019 watching the Chiefs play the 49ers. ... actually being able to see the Kansas City Chiefs win it, it was really cool."

The Big Orange Combine is a program that gave UT students a chance to work on the Super Bowl. Smith explained how he helped at Super Bowl LIV before celebrating with some of K.C.'s fans who were in attendance in Miami.

Three years later, Smith got to celebrate with the fans some more, but as a member of the Chiefs. And a pretty important one as he helped Kansas City defeat the Philadelphia Eagles 38-35 in Super Bowl LVII.

Smith was selected in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft and immediately became a starter. He was one of more than a dozen first- and second-year players who contributed to the Chiefs' second Super Bowl run with Patrick Mahomes, Andy Reid and Co.

At Wednesday's victory parade, Smith and the offensive linemen wore their "0 Sacks" shirts to highlight how well the offensive line played against the Eagles.

Mahomes stayed clean for the most part. Philadelphia, which came into the game ranked No. 1 in sacks with 78 total during the regular season and postseason, was held to zero sacks.

It all definitely came back full circle for Smith -- from watching the Chiefs win the Super Bowl in the stands to becoming a Super Bowl champion with the Chiefs.
