Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes Makes Headlines With Off-Field News Ahead of NFL Season

Patrick Mahomes is entering his ninth NFL season with the Kansas City Chiefs and seems more motivated than ever to rebound after the team’s sluggish loss in Super Bowl LIX against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Kansas City opens the year on Sept. 5 against the Los Angeles Chargers in São Paulo, Brazil. While anticipation is building for the Chiefs’ return to the field, Mahomes made headlines with some exciting off-field news.

On Thursday, Adidas—his longtime partner—announced the launch of a new ad campaign that will run throughout the entire NFL season. The campaign will feature Mahomes in a series of brand films inspired by his dynamic presence both on and off the field.

“He smiles. You relax. Then he ruins your Sunday. The wolf in sheep’s clothing. @patrickmahomes,” read the joint post from Mahomes and Adidas.

Patrick Mahomes has been with Adidas since 2017 and has become one of the brand’s premier athletes, appearing in a wide range of commercials—most notably a recent spot this year alongside soccer icon and Inter Miami star Lionel Messi.

When the Chiefs drafted Mahomes out of Texas Tech, few could have predicted he would become a three-time Super Bowl champion, two-time MVP, six-time Pro Bowler, and one of the most recognizable athletes in all of professional sports.

Looking ahead to this season, Mahomes spoke about bouncing back from Kansas City’s Super Bowl loss and expressed confidence that the Chiefs—who have never faced this exact situation before—have the makeup to climb back to the top once again.

"When you make it that far and then you’re at the end, it just hurts," Mahomes said. "You put so much hard work into it. So, losing on that final step is always hard. But it’s how you respond. I thought we responded well after that last Super Bowl loss, just kind of building back and getting even better and winning a couple more championships. ...But you can’t prove it until you go out there and do it."
