Patrick Mahomes’ status as one of football’s most accomplished quarterbacks continues to grow both on and off the field. A two-time NFL MVP and three-time Super Bowl champion, the Kansas City Chiefs star has redefined modern quarterback play and is among the greatest players to play football.

Now in his ninth NFL season, he has guided the Chiefs to a 5-4 start and continues to perform at a high level. During Kansas City’s bye week, Mahomes made a highly anticipated appearance on ESPN’s “College GameDay” as a guest picker and was in Lubbock to watch his alma mater go against the BYU Cougars.

Speaking on Saturday’s broadcast, Mahomes revealed that he collaborated with Adidas to design Texas Tech’s uniforms for their Week 11 showdown against BYU.

“Uniforms were designed by me and Adidas,” he said. “They got the ice on today. Be great. Go represent. You got to feel good to play good.”

The all-white “Too Cold” uniforms feature Mahomes’ personal “Gladiator” logo, representing his partnership with Adidas, where he serves as a global ambassador.

Before becoming the face of the NFL, Mahomes was one of the Red Raiders’ most electrifying players, throwing for 11,252 yards and 93 touchdowns with a 63.5% completion rate from 2014-16.

The matchup between No. 8 Texas Tech (8-1, 5-1 Big 12) and No. 7 BYU (8-0, 5-0) has major conference and playoff implications. Texas Tech ranks third nationally in scoring offense (43.6 points per game) and fifth in scoring defense (13.2), while BYU ranks 19th in scoring offense (36.3) and 16th in defense (17.0). The winner will take a significant step toward securing a spot in the Big 12 title game.

Mahomes’ involvement brings added attention to an already pivotal matchup, and the stakes could not be higher as Texas Tech battles for Big 12 supremacy.
