Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are on a bye week, giving them time to rest after losing to the Buffalo Bills 28-21.
However, even though Mahomes doesn't play this week, he's still surrounded by football. He returned to his alma mater in Lubbock, Texas, to be the guest picker on ESPN's "College GameDay."
He's hoping his No. 8 Texas Tech Red Raiders pick up a big conference win over the No. 7 BYU Cougars, which could have major College Football Playoff implications. It's an exciting opportunity for the two-time MVP, but one of his picks may be getting some backlash from Chiefs fans.
When it came time to predict some of the week's biggest winners, Mahomes selected the No. 3 Texas A&M Aggies to defeat the No. 22 Missouri Tigers. Of course, the Tigers' campus is just over two hours away from Kansas City, and there's a lot of overlap between fans.
Mahomes couldn't help but apologize while making the prediction, saying, "I'm taking Texas A&M. Marcel Reed, that defense getting after it. Sorry to all my Chiefs Kingdom, a lot of Mizzou fans there, but I'm going with the Aggies."
At 6-2, Missouri is going into the game looking to keep its playoff hopes alive. The Aggies, on the other hand, are striving to keep a perfect season alive and move one step closer to a spot in the SEC title game.
Despite going into enemy territory, Texas A&M is a 6.5-point favorite, according to ESPN Bet.
With kickoff scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC, it's one of the few times Chiefs Kingdom will be cheering for Mahomes to be wrong.
