Travis Kelce is entering Year 13.
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end debated retirement following the team's crushing loss in Super Bowl LIX to Philadelphia Eagles. However, his love for football was too much to ignore.
And he was determined to keep playing.
So, could the 2025 season be his last one?
According to Patrick Mahomes, it doesn't seem that way.
“If it’s the last ride, you would never know," the Chiefs quarterback told reporters after OTAs on Thursday. "The way he's talking about football, the way he's talking about working and trying to be even better this year than he was last year. It doesn't seem like a guy that it's his last ride or he's tired of the job.
"He's in there. He's working. I know his body feels good. I think it feels even better than it did last year before going into last season. I think he's motivated to go out there and have an even better year than he had this last (year)."
Back in March, when Kelce first revealed his decision to return for at least one more season, he detailed exactly why.
"I think the biggest thing is that I f***ing love playing the game of football, man," the tight end said on the New Heights podcast. "I love playing. I still feel like I can play at a high level, and possibly at a higher level than last year. I don't think it was my best outing. I think I let my guys down in a lot more moment then I helped them.
"I just, I want to give it a good run," he continued. "I got a bad taste in my mouth on how I ended the year, and how well I was playing, and how accountable I was for the people around me.
He's clearly putting in the work. So, maybe he'll stick around longer than just one more season!
