Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs secured arguably their best win of the 2025 NFL season in Week 6, taking down Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions 30-17 on "Sunday Night Football." Mahomes had one of his better games of the season, completing 22-of-30 passes for 257 yards and three touchdowns, while adding 32 yards and another score on the ground.
Mahomes is off to a strong start in his ninth NFL season. Through six games, he has completed 138 of 213 passes for 1,514 yards, 11 touchdowns and two interceptions, while adding 222 rushing yards and four scores. However, after Kansas City’s loss to Jacksonville, the Chiefs fell to 2-3, and Mahomes wasn’t getting much attention in the MVP race.
In fact, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, the reigning MVP, entered Week 6 with the best odds to win the award again. But after struggling in the “Monday Night Football” loss to the Atlanta Falcons, throwing for 180 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions on a 57.1% completion rate, Allen’s MVP chances have taken a hit.
After Week 6, Allen now holds the second-best MVP odds at +300, according to DraftKings Sportsbook. But thanks to his strong performance against the Lions, Mahomes has overtaken Allen as the favorite to win his third MVP award, with odds of +185. Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield sits right behind them at +350.
The Bills also entered Week 6 as the favorites to win the Super Bowl. But after “Monday Night Football,” they’re now co-favorites with the Chiefs, with both teams listed at +650. The Lions and Green Bay Packers have the next best odds at +800.
