Chiefs RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire misses practice Wednesday

Approximately 72 hours until the Kansas City Chiefs are scheduled to kick off their Week 18 matchup against the Denver Broncos, they still don't know if they'll see starting running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire return to the field.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said Tuesday that the second-year pro has a chance to play on Saturday, but things are currently looking uncertain.

Kansas City chose Edwards-Helaire as the 32nd overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, and he registered 803 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 181 carries in 13 games during his rookie season. The LSU product also tallied 36 receptions for 297 and one score in last year.

The 22-year-old has run for 517 yards on 119 carries while scoring four touchdowns in 10 games this season. Edwards-Helaire also produced 19 receptions for 129 yards and two touchdowns through the air in 2021.

Kansas City is currently the No. 2 seed in the AFC playoff picture, but with a victory over the Broncos and a loss by the Tennessee Titans, the Chiefs would jump into the top spot.
