The Kansas City Chiefs will look to get the offense going next season. One of the reasons that the offense did not play the way they were capable of doing all last season was due to the lack of a run game. The Chiefs did not have a good run game last season.
The Chiefs, no matter what they did, could not find a way to get the ball to the back and find open holes to take some of the pressure off star quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
Starting running back Isiah Pacheco was injured for most of the season in 2024. He did not return until late in the season, but even then, he could not get back to his old form. It could also have been because he rushed back from injury. After all, the team was making another Super Bowl run. You can even see that it was not the same Pacheco late in the year in 2024.
During his time gone last season, the Chiefs then brought in veteran running back Kareem Hunt, who was a former member of the Chiefs. He showed a little spark, but it did not last long. But the time Pacheco came back, Hunt was struggling as well. The Chiefs could not get anything going with both of them playing together.
But next season, Pacheco will be ready to go and is looking to get back to form like we know he can be. Pacheco will have to have a good camp because the Chiefs have also brought in two other running backs that will be battling it out to get some carries as well in the backfield. It is going to be interesting to see what the Chiefs do at the running back position next season.
“I’m doing great,” Pacheco said. “We’re excited about this year coming up.”
In 2025, it will be a big year for Pacheco as well because he is in his final year of his contract and is looking to get a new one. If he can show that he can be the running back that we were before the injury, he will be starting around in Kansas City. The Chiefs need a run game for the offense and to keep the defense honest. They cannot let it be like last season and expect to win it all.

Bright side of the Terry McLaurin holdout can help Jayden Daniels and Commanders offense in the long run
The Washington Commanders are without All-Pro WR Terry McLaurin to start training camp, but there's some light in this dark situation. It's hard to see the positive of a star player holding out of practice while he waits for a contract extension, but this gives the depth in the WR room a chance to get more reps in with Jayden Daniels. Daniels showed in his rookie season that he can elevate the team around him, but someone still needs to rise to the occasion as a reliable weapon on offense this season. Deebo Samuel is in the perfect situation Washington went all-in on building around Daniels and it included trading for Deebo Samuel from the San Francisco 49ers in the offseason. Samuel is looking to revive his career in Washington and he has everything he needs to be able to do so with a top quarterback in the league and Kliff Kingsbury calling plays. The two have been working on a connection since the day Samuel showed up to Washington and the results are already being seen on the practice field. Samuel is the top target on the field with McLaurin out and he brought in the first touchdown of training camp to kick things off. Kingsbury will set Samuel up to succeed and he's already doing his part by showing up to training camp in amazing condition and building a report with Daniels. We can see Samuel in the backfield, but expect his biggest contributions to come through the air on offense. Washington has promising young WRs to develop Luke McCaffrey is entering his second season and this is where we can see the biggest jump for the young wide receiver. We know he's an outstanding athlete, but there's still more to unlock with his skill set as a true receiver. Washington brought in all-time great Wes Welker as a personnel analyst and he can help sharpen those tools. The Commanders also drafted Jaylin Lane in the fourth round of the draft and he will instantly compete for the starting slot wide receiver position thanks to his speed and separation ability. Adam Peters also called him the best punt returner in the draft, so expect a major role on special teams as well. Don't count out the underdogs on the team as undrafted rookie Ja'Corey Brooks already made an impression on day one with two touchdowns during team drills. Brooks could be a serious contender for the final spot if he continues his progression and skip the practice squad completly. A veteran presence can elevate the rest of the WR room Noah Brown is back for another season and he avoided any major injuries when he got injured at minicamp. He's good to go, but the team will be careful with practice. He already has a connection to Daniels thankfully and not just the Hail Mary that shocked the world. Brown should pick up where he left off and be a reliable option. Commanders HC Dan Quinn also name dropped two guys who were added during the season last year that might surprise fans. He mentioned Wednesday morning that Chris Moore and KJ Osborn are guys who have taken advantage of an actual offseason with the team. Both have been brought up by coaches and Jayden Daniels himself this offseason. Of course McLaurin being absent from practice as a holdout isn't ideal, but we already know how strong his connection with Daniels is, so others have a chance to build the same report before the season.

The Chicago Blackhawks, a crowded goaltending situation and trade rumors involving the Edmonton Oilers have fans wondering if the Stars' rivals could soon upgrade their crease before training camp. With training camp approaching, Chicago general manager Kyle Davidson has five goalies under contract, including Spencer Knight, Arvid Soderblom, Drew Commesso, newly signed Stanislav Berezhnoy, and veteran Laurent Brossoit. Only two NHL roster spots are available, which has fueled speculation that Brossoit could be moved to a contender, with Edmonton emerging as a leading candidate. While Chicago decides, Drew Commesso continues to push for NHL time after posting a .911 save percentage over 39 AHL games. I think if Edmonton lands Brossoit or even Commesso, Dallas may have to plan around a deeper Oilers team come playoff time, especially given how tight the Western race looks on paper.
LA Lakers receive immediate response from Timberwolves after enquiry over Donte DiVincenzo
The Los Angeles Lakers aren’t slowing down in their bid to build a contender, making another move to strengthen the squad for a championship run next season. Marcus Smart, the 2022 Defensive Player of the Year, is set to join a roster that now stands at 14 players. Smart links up with DeAndre Ayton, who is expected to take on the main role at centre. Both signings signal a shift towards adding experienced players who can fill key gaps in the lineup. Guard depth was clearly high on the agenda during free agency. Before landing Marcus Smart, the Lakers explored several backcourt options, some of whom ended up signing elsewhere or staying put. The team reportedly showed interest in Bradley Beal before he signed with the Clippers and also considered Malcolm Brogdon as they looked for guards who could impact both ends of the floor. Timberwolves quickly shut down Donte DiVincenzo approach NBA insider Brett Siegel shared that the Lakers reached out to the Minnesota Timberwolves about Donte DiVincenzo, but Minnesota quickly shut down any possibility of a deal. “Los Angeles also reached out to the Minnesota Timberwolves about Donte DiVincenzo’s availability, but the Wolves were not interested at all,” Siegel reported, underlining how firmly Minnesota values the guard. DiVincenzo offers what Los Angeles was looking for during their search. The defensive-minded guard provided secondary scoring while shooting efficiently from beyond the arc. His 2024 numbers included 11.7 points, 3.6 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game on 39.7% shooting from deep. Questions remain around Marcus Smart’s shooting but defence remains elite Smart isn’t known for his offensive output, but he did post a 39.2% three-point rate in Washington last season. The Lakers are hoping he can keep that up, especially when Luka Doncic is off the floor. Defence has always been Smart’s strong suit, and that hasn’t changed. His perimeter play is still a real strength, and it’s what the Lakers will lean on most. The Celtics connection gives him a veteran presence this group could use. The Lakers were short on dependable playoff options last year, and Smart should help steady things. Salary cap leaves Lakers short on additional moves The Lakers are just over $1 million from the first-apron tax threshold, limiting their ability to add another high-profile player. Smart’s arrival is likely the last major move unless the team makes additional changes to free up cap space. The 14-man roster, anchored by LeBron James and Luka Doncic, offer plenty of depth and flexibility. Still, whether that translates into a championship run will depend on how well the group stays healthy and builds chemistry. Both Smart and Ayton come with questions attached. The team’s success may ultimately hinge on how those gambles pay off.
Georges Niang On Celtics Fans: ‘You Took The Unicorn And Got A Minivan With Scratches’
The Boston Celtics added another floor spacer when they acquired forward Georges Niang in the trade that sent Kristaps Porzingis to the Hawks. But as Niang tells it, the reception in Boston hasn’t exactly been warm. “I then get traded for Kristaps Porzingis — which, you know how tough Boston fans are,” Niang said during an appearance on The OGs podcast, via HoopsRumors. “They don’t give a (expletive) if I’m from Boston or not. ‘You just took our Unicorn and replaced it with a Minivan. Get the (expletive) outta here.’ I’m like public enemy No. 1. They’re like, ‘What is this? This ain’t shiny. It’s got scratches on it, man.’” Some of the resentment may stem from a 2023 playoff incident in which Niang, then with the Cavaliers, grabbed Celtics star Jaylen Brown’s knee from the bench. That clip resurfaced after the trade. Others have speculated it’s about Niang’s $8.2 million expiring contract and whether Boston plans to keep him around. “You don’t want to be in Boston losing, that’s for sure,” Niang added. “What can I do this summer? Can I come in in the best shape, mentor, learn, and figure out how to win the day — and then win games.” Celtics Urged to Pass on Simmons Boston has been linked to free agent Ben Simmons, but not everyone thinks it’s a good idea. Matt Vautour of MassLive wrote that the Celtics would be better off exploring other options. Vautour noted that Simmons still brings some upside, but warned that the team can’t count on him to stay healthy. Along with that, things didn’t exactly work out for Simmons in Philadelphia or Brooklyn, either, Vautour opined. Bassey Drawing Interest From Overseas Big man Charles Bassey, who made a solid impression during three Summer League games with Boston, is on the radar of Italian club Virtus Bologna, per HoopsRumors.
