Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs had an NFL season to forget in 2025. After starting the year with a 5-3 record, the Chiefs would fall apart in the second half of the season, ending with a 6-11 record and missing out on the playoffs for the first time in 10 years. To make matters worse, quarterback Patrick Mahomes saw his year end early after tearing his ACL in Week 15.
Reid has now been with Kansas City for 13 years, and 2025 marked just the second time he hasn't led the Chiefs to the postseason. But the head coach's tenure with the team will certainly still go down as one of the best in NFL history, winning three Super Bowls alongside Mahomes and Travis Kelce in five appearances. But recently, another long-time member of the Chiefs received an honor from the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Mike Davidson began his NFL career in 1984, joining the Cleveland Browns as a member of the equipment staff. He spent five years in Cleveland before departing for the Chiefs in 1989, following head coach Marty Schottenheimer to Kansas City. And Davidson earned a promotion upon his arrival, becoming the leader of the Chiefs' equipment department.
Davidson spent 22 years in Kansas City’s equipment department before stepping away from the role in 2011. However, he remained with the franchise, becoming one of the Chiefs’ team historians, a position he still holds today. During his career, Davidson has worked with 23 Pro Football Hall of Famers.
For his work in the NFL, Davidson was recently named a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame's "Awards of Excellence" class, which recognizes the league's major "behind-the-scenes" contributors. Joining Davidson in the 2026 class include the Green Bay Packers' Red Batty and Jack Noel. And the Chiefs recognized Davidson's honor on Sunday, congratulating him on social media.
"Congratulations to former Chiefs equipment manager Mike Davidson on being named to the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Awards of Excellence ," the Chiefs wrote on X.

While the Chiefs continue to make moves in free agency, they will also be selecting with the No. 9 pick in the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft, a much higher pick than normal.
