Harrison Butker and the Kansas City Chiefs couldn’t have asked for a better start to the 2026 NFL season, jumping to 4-0 after a 30-27 Week 4 win over Kirk Cousins and the Las Vegas Raiders. Now, coming off a bye, the Chiefs will look to remain perfect in Week 6, hosting Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers.
Butker has been solid to begin his 10th season with Kansas City. The kicker has made 7-of-9 field goal attempts, including a 40-yard game-winner in overtime against the Indianapolis Colts. And Butker has been consistently hitting game-winners for years, even winning three Super Bowls alongside Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.
But before Butker became a star in Kansas City, the kicker was making a name for himself at his hometown college.
Butker attended The Westminster Schools in Atlanta before playing football and soccer for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets from 2013 to 2016. And he earned the starting kicker job as a freshman and appeared in 52 games over four seasons. By the end of his senior year, Butker had converted 43-of-60 field-goal attempts and all 208 extra-point attempts, finishing his career as Georgia Tech’s all-time leading scorer with 337 points.
Earlier this month, Butker was inducted into the Georgia Tech Athletics Hall of Fame as part of the 2026 class, which also includes the program’s all-time sacks leader, Jeremiah Attaochu. During the Yellow Jackets’ recent 28-25 win over Duke, Butker was honored on the field in front of the Georgia Tech crowd.
On Wednesday, the Chiefs congratulated Butker for his Georgia Tech honor with a post on social media.
“Congratulations to @buttkicker7 on his induction into @GTAthletics’s Athletic Hall of Fame!” the Chiefs wrote on X. “With 337 career points, Harrison is the Yellow Jacket’s all-time leading scorer ”
