The Kansas City Chiefs are scheduled to take the field for a season-opening contest against the Los Angeles Chargers on Friday, Sept. 5 for the NFL's second-ever game in Brazil.
When the Chiefs face off against their divisional foe, they'll be doing so without star wide receiver Rashee Rice, who accepted a six-game suspension from the league as a result of a car accident during the 2024 offseason. As the Chiefs prepare to square off without a star wide receiver on the field, they'll be able to rely on another key player.
On Tuesday, Sept. 2, the Chiefs revealed star wide receiver Marquise "Hollywood" Brown was a full participant in practice and cleared for Friday's game. "He's done everything," head coach Andy Reid said when asked about Brown's practice performance. "He looked good out there. ... He's getting the gameplay."
Brown picked up an injury during the preseason, and admitted his frustrations after missing most of the 2024 NFL season.
"I mean, I'm human, but ultimately, with everything that I've been through, I never really get too high, too low," Brown said. "So, you know, after that day, I probably was in my feelings a little bit that day. But moving forward, just went to attacking it."
Brown made it clear he's excited to get back out on the field.
"Even before I got here, I didn't finish the season in Arizona. So, I feel like this is one of my first seasons in a while," Brown said. "I'm excited and getting ready to play."
Kansas City and Los Angeles kick off at 8 p.m. ET on YouTube.
