Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are headed to their fifth Super Bowl in the past five seasons with the only exception being when the Los Angeles Rams took down the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl LVI.
"I'm always nervous whenever the football's not in my hand, but I have so much trust in that defense,'' Mahomes admitted after the game when having to rely on the Chiefs defense late in the fourth quarter.
"They've done it all year, and I know that's a great offense that they're going up against and Josh has made a lot of great plays all night, all season long, but I trust that [defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo] is going to call the right blitz or call the right coverage and the guys are going to execute the assignment and then whatever happens, happens. I was very happy that it was incomplete and we were able to run the time out after that.''
Mahomes and company will face off against the Philadelphia Eagles, who dominated the Washington Commanders by a final score of 55-23, in Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans on Feb. 9.
Even though the game is still two weeks away, the Chiefs are already putting the finishing touches on their uniforms for the Super Bowl. In a post on Tuesday morning, the Chiefs revealed the team is already hard at work sewing patches into the new uniforms - and also revealed the team will be wearing its white jerseys.
