The Kansas City Chiefs have one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history in Patrick Mahomes, but he is not necessarily getting paid like it.
There is now another field general that is getting paid more than Mahomes, as the San Francisco 49ers just signed Brock Purdy to a five-year, $265 million extension. While he is a great quarterback, most would say that Mahomes should be getting more money than him.
But Purdy is not the only one who is getting more money per year than the Chiefs star, as they are an absurd 12 quarterbacks who are above him.
Perhaps the most outrageous is Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson, who is likely going to miss the entirety of the 2025 season recovering from a torn Achilles that he suffered in Week 7 of the 2024 season.

Joe Burrow: $55M
Josh Allen: $55M
Jordan Love: $55M
Trevor Lawrence: $55M
Tua Tagovailoa: $53.1M
Brock Purdy: $53M

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott makes $60 mil APY.
Mahomes’ $45 million per year places him tied for 13th among QBs.
As a result, the Chiefs could be looking to once again restructure their star's contract to give him more of what he deserves. They could add more years to his contract, or they could move more of the money up front.
Mahomes' current contract will expire when he is 36 years old, but the future Hall of Famer has expressed interest in playing into his 40s. So he would likely have no issue with the Chiefs adding more seasons to the end of his contract.
Considering how important Mahomes is to the Chiefs, they will most likely not hesitate to give the superstar field general the compensation he rightfully deserves when the time comes.
