Key Points:
Travis Kelce had an injury scare in the Kansas City Chiefs’ Week 9 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. The 10-time Pro Bowl tight end had to make an early trip to the locker room after taking a huge hit from Bills safety Cole Bishop.
Kelce, who finished the 28-21 loss with four catches for 66 receiving yards, had to be evaluated in the locker room for a concussion. The 36-year-old addressed the incident in Wednesday’s episode of his “New Heights” podcast with his brother, Philadelphia Eagles icon Jason Kelce, as the Chiefs star cleared the air on the concussion scare.
Patrick Mahomes’ pass was behind Kelce in the end zone. Kelce attempted to catch the football, but there was just no way he was getting his hands on that wayward pass. After failing to make the catch, Kelce saw Bishop’s right shoulder driven right into his midsection. Buffalo linebacker Terrel Bernard got in there, too, as he shoved Kelce from behind after the Bishop hit.
Kelce admitted on the podcast that it was a pretty big hit.
"It knocked the wind out of me," Kelce said. "He caught me. I got kind of sandwiched in there."
The play happened right before halftime, and Kelce was seen on the broadcast heading back to the locker room before the break. He even had an exchange with some Bills fans who were talking trash to him as he exited the field.

The Chiefs quickly cleared Kelce of a concussion, and he was back in the game to start the second half. The four-time All-Pro tight end revealed what happened at halftime.
“Yeah, I had to get evaluated in the locker room," he said on "New Heights." "I'm just sitting. I'm like, 'What is this? Why is this... ?' [The medical staff asked] 'What day is it?' [I answered] '[Expletive] Sunday.'"
Kelce expressed that he was fine and implied that he did not need to undergo the concussion test.
"Before a concussion or after a concussion, I don't know who we played last week. We're in Week 9," Kelce said. "Are you kidding me? You're going to make me sit here and [expletive]."
The good news is that Kelce did not sustain any injury against the Bills. It was a hard tackle, but it should not cause concern moving forward.
Kelce and the Chiefs get a bye for Week 10. He should be back out there for their next game, which comes in the form of a road matchup against the Denver Broncos in Week 11. The contest will take place on Sunday, Nov. 16, with kickoff from Empower Field at Mile High scheduled for 4:25 p.m. ET.
