Chiefs to visit White House to celebrate Super Bowl LVIII win with President Joe Biden
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Kansas City Chiefs are heading to Washington D.C. to visit the White House and celebrate their Super Bowl LVIII victory over the San Francisco 49ers with President Joe Biden.

The Chiefs have been invited to return to the White House on Friday, May 31st, and have graciously accepted the invitation. The White House announced the invitation via press release on Friday morning.

Last year, when the Chiefs visited the White House in June, Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce presented President Biden with a No. 46 jersey. It signified his tenure as the 46th President of the United States of America. Mahomes also presented Biden with a signed and inscribed football.

Kelce, of course, had an unforgettable moment where he hijacked the microphone on stage before Mahomes promptly cut him off and apologized.

This is only the second time the Chiefs have ever participated in the time-honored tradition of Super Bowl-winning teams visiting the White House, despite having won four Lombardi Trophies in the franchise's illustrious history. The team attended last year following Super Bowl LVII's win over the Philadelphia Eagles, however, they didn't attend for either of their two prior Super Bowl wins.

In 2019-20 following Super Bowl LIV's win over the 49ers, the Chiefs didn't make a trip due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The White House was locked down and not taking any visitors due to the pandemic. The Super Bowl IV team in 1969-70 did not visit the White House, but Chiefs QB Len Dawson did take a call from then-President Richard Nixon.
