The Kansas City Chiefs' training camp is now underway with Andy Reid's team beginning the road to get back to the Super Bowl.
With so many doubters of the defending AFC champs, the Chiefs are going to have to prove a lot of people wrong in 2025, but they can't do it without building a solid foundation at training camp to then take into the season.
Granted, we are only one day into practice, but Reid already knows exactly what he wants to see from his group.
“Main thing is urgency,” Reid said. “You know, the urgency, just keep that up. Everybody's expectations are high amongst the team, amongst everybody around. But it comes down to the work that you take care of here and the foundation that you build here.”
The urgency and being intentional in what the players do is going to be the driving force behind the next few weeks as the Chiefs drill down into the fabric of what will sustain them in 2025.
Yes, the offensive line and receiver positions for some are still weak spots, but training camp can help alleviate those fears or reinforce them. We won't be jumping to any conclusions based on the first couple of practices, nor until we get to the regular season, but right now, it is all about getting the work in and stacking good days together.
The Chiefs have a lot of skeptics who are sharpening their pitchforks ahead of the new season, which is odd for a team that has won two Super Bowls and been to another in the last three years.
How do the Chiefs put their best foot forward? It begins at training camp, and it begins with players showing urgency in everything they do.
