Chiefs’ Travis Kelce Speaks Out On Eagles’ Jason Kelce Rumors
Kiyoshi Mio-USA TODAY Sports

The general expectation is that Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce will retire, but Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce—Jason’s brother—says we shouldn’t be counting our chickens before the eggs hatch.

Following the Eagles’ Wild Card Round playoff loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Jason’s body language and facial expressions seemed very telling, and he did not speak to reporters after the game.

This led many to believe that this was, in fact, Jason’s final game.

But Travis has set the record straight. For now.

“It came that he retired, and he didn’t really say any of that,” Travis said, via Chiefs Digest. “At the end of the game, I think everyone kind of felt for him knowing that he has been thinking about that a lot over the past couple of years. It’s been cool to see everyone appreciate who he’s been over the years this past week. But I think the big guy’s still got some years left if he wants it.”

Of course, this does not necessarily mean that Jason will be returning in 2024. It could just be Travis covering for him and respecting his privacy at the moment.

It’s entirely possible that Jason has not yet made a decision and is weighing his options while still learning toward retirement.

After all, Jason is 36 years old and has spent 13 years in the NFL. He has made seven trips to the Pro Bowl while earning six First-Team All-Pro selections. Most importantly, he helped lead Philadelphia to its first ever Super Bowl championship in February 2018.

So, essentially, Jason has accomplished everything he needed to as an NFL player, so he could comfortably hang up his cleats knowing that his career was a success.

We’ll see what Jason Kelce decides to do, but Travis Kelce is just making sure everyone stops jumping to conclusions.
