Andy Reid has guided the Kansas City Chiefs to two straight wins, including a 31-0 shutout of the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 7 of the 2025 NFL season. Through seven games, the Chiefs have featured one of the league’s top passing defenses, allowing just 174.6 yards per game, fourth best in the NFL. And they’ve done it mostly without cornerback Kristian Fulton, who signed a two-year, $20 million deal with Kansas City in the offseason.
The Dallas Cowboys, on the other hand, find themselves on the opposite end of the spectrum, allowing a league-worst 260.3 passing yards per game. The Micah Parsons trade certainly didn’t help, and the absence of DaRon Bland for multiple games made matters worse. And in the Cowboys’ Week 7 win over the Washington Commanders, All-Pro cornerback Trevon Diggs was also forced to miss his first game of the season.
Leading up to the win over Washington, Diggs was listed as a full participant in practice. However, just a couple of days before the NFC East matchup, the former Alabama cornerback was suddenly ruled out due to a concussion he suffered at home. And on Saturday, Diggs was placed on injured reserve, not because of his concussion, but due to a lingering knee issue.
"While Trevon Diggs missed last week’s game because of a concussion, I’m told it was residual problems with his right knee that prompted the #Cowboys to place him on IR today," Ed Werder wrote on X. "Team source says they want to get him healthy and not that deep at corner so his eventual return possible."
With Diggs on injured reserve, he’ll be sidelined for at least the next four games, including the Cowboys’ Week 8 road matchup against Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos. And the earliest he could return is on Thanksgiving, when Dallas hosts Reid and the Chiefs.
"Trevon Diggs is eligible to return Nov. 27 against Kansas City," Dallas Morning News' Calvin Watkins wrote on X. "FYI a player on IR can be traded. Traded deadline is Nov. 4. Diggs has been dealing with knee issues in addition to the concussion he suffered last week."
