The Kansas City Chiefs are placing the franchise tag on offensive tackle Orlando Brown, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Monday morning. Brown is the first pending free agent to be tagged this offseason.
Other prime candidates to get the franchise tag by Tuesday’s 4 pm deadline include Packers WR Davante Adams, Bucs WR Chris Godwin, Chargers WR Mike Williams, Bengals S Jessie Bates III, Cowboys TE Dalton Schultz, Dolphins TE Mike Gesicki and Titans edge rusher Harold Landry III.

Brown, 25, was acquired by Kansas City last offseason from the Baltimore Ravens. He started all 16 regular-season games and three playoff contests for the Chiefs in 2021 and was selected to his third Pro Bowl.
Spotrac projects a five-year contract extension for Brown, which would make him the highest-paid offensive lineman in the league.
Now tagged by the #Chiefs at a projected $16.5M, OT Orlando Brown Jr. currently projects to a 5 year, $116.5M extension in our system, a contract that would make him the highest average paid OL in history.https://t.co/iXVumo4sQK
