Chiefs Week 18 Injury Updates on Wanya Morris, Justyn Ross

The Kansas City Chiefs got out of Week 18 with a win, finishing the regular season with an 11-6 record. Their victory over the Los Angeles Chargers came with some unfortunate injuries, though, as several players got banged up on Sunday.

Speaking to the media following the game, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid confirmed a multitude of injuries. Outside of right tackle Jawaan Taylor, defensive back Chamarri Conner and safety Deon Bush (who all went unmentioned), here's the full list of notable ailments for Kansas City. It's headlined by a rookie left tackle: 

• LT Wanya Morris: head injury, in concussion protocol
• WR Justyn Ross: hamstring
• CB Jaylen Watson: calf

Morris, who made his fifth start in a row on Sunday, was forced out of action and originally was merely undergoing evaluations for a head injury. It wasn't long before the team downgraded him to out with a concussion, however, ending his regular season. Reid confirmed the injury, which means the Chiefs' third-round pick faces an uphill battle if he wants to be ready for the postseason. While running back Isiah Pacheco was recently able to clear the NFL's concussion protocol in less than a full week, that isn't always the case. Each player and each situation is different, so Kansas City suddenly finds itself in dangerous territory at left tackle.

If Morris doesn't complete all required return-to-play steps in the coming days, there's some uncertainty behind him. Veteran Donovan Smith was the team's original starter this season, but a neck stinger has held him out for a month-plus. He returned to practice on Wednesday and was a full participant, although he didn't participate on Thursday or Friday and was ultimately ruled out of Week 18's contest. The health of the Chiefs' left tackles will be worth monitoring closely this week.

Elsewhere, Ross had two catches on four targets before being spotted limping off the field. The second-year man was downgraded from questionable to out by the team shortly thereafter. Reid didn't have any specifics regarding the severity of his hamstring injury, nor did he add details for Watson's calf. Neither seems to be a long-term ailment at the moment, but more information could be coming this week as the Chiefs prepare for the Wild Card round of the playoffs. They'll need all hands on deck as the postseason soon begins.
