Chiefs WR Mecole Hardman Jr. expecting Super Bowl baby

Mecole Hardman Jr. might be celebrating more than a Super Bowl victory tonight.

The Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver announced on Twitter that his girlfriend's water broke early this morning. The news came at 5:40 a.m., just under 13 hours before kickoff of Super Bowl LVII.

Hardman hasn't tweeted any further updates, but it's possible his first child has already arrived.

The 24-year-old and his partner, Chariah Gordon, announced the pregnancy in October, according to Fox 4 Kansas City. The couple later revealed on Instagram that they were expecting a boy.

"I was #TeamBoy all the way!" Hardman captioned the post. "PS it's definitely going to be the 3rd."

So yes, it's possible we'll see Hardman III on the back of an NFL jersey in the next couple decades.

Hardman has been on injured reserve with a pelvic injury since Jan. 6 and will not suit up for the game tonight. Instead, he'll likely be rooting for his team alongside the newest addition to Chiefs Kingdom.

Last Super Bowl, Rams wide receiver Van Jefferson rushed off the field after learning that his wife had gone into labor during Los Angeles' triumphant game. They named their baby boy "Champ," according to Sports Illustrated.
