Chris Grier Meeting with the Cleveland Browns about Role in Organization

NFL Insider Josina Anderson is reporting that the Cleveland Browns have met with former Miami Dolphins general manager Chris Grier and Tom Telesco, the former general manager of the LA Chargers, to discuss serving as a senior voice in the organization’s front office.

Per Anderson’s report, the Browns met with them both to gather perspectives and for exploratory talks on potentially adding one of them to the organization.

Grier was fired by the Miami Dolphins on October 31, 2025, after spending over 24 years in the organization. He had been the team’s general manager since 2016.

Grier had been with the Dolphins’ organization since 2000 and has been the general manager since 2016.

In 2019, he got complete control over football operations.

During his time as general manager, the Dolphins failed to win the AFC East or win a playoff game.

As General Manager, Grier helped bring Adam Gase, Brian Flores, and Mike McDaniels as head coaches to Miami.

How Chris Grier stayed employed with the Dolphins, specifically in the role of General Manager for this long, is a mystery. ‘

There were too many missed draft picks to list, along with many great players he failed to re-sign after their rookie contracts, and countless poor free agent signings.

Additionally, there was controversy and scandals throughout his time as the GM.

He had his quirks, such as refusing to speak to the media each year at the NFL Scouting Combine, when every other GM holds a press conference, to bigger issues, such as being Ross’s right-hand man when the Brian Flores situation blew up.

Grier, who brought Flores to Miami, kept his job after Flores was fired, and it is considered the biggest mistake Dolphins owner Stephen Ross has made.

But even his involvement in the Dolphins’ losing draft picks and Ross’s suspension couldn’t get him to lose his job.

What did, though, the losing product on the field.

The teams he built ultimately failed to deliver and never produced results.
