Christian Watson fuels belief he’s about to make 2025 debut in Steelers-Packers game

It is still a waiting game on the Christian Watson front. The Green Bay Packers wide receiver has yet to see action in an NFL game since he tore his anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in their final game of the 2024 NFL regular season against the Chicago Bears.

Watson, however, is nearing a return, as suggested by the fact that Green Bay had already opened his 21-day practice window on Oct. 6.

Almost three weeks have gone by since that move by the Packers, and there could be a chance that the former North Dakota State Bison star wideout could finally make his return this coming Sunday, in a marquee Sunday Night Football matchup versus Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers at Acrisure Stadium.

Will Watson be on the field in Week 8’s Packers-Steelers game?

The Packers have managed to keep their head above water amid Watson’s absence. Jordan Love has been solid under center, and Green Bay’s talented defense has been showing up. But getting Watson back could significantly move the needle in Green Bay’s favor, especially with wide receiver Jayden Reed on the injured reserve.

Watson seems to be confident that his body can give it a go as soon as the Steelers game.

Via the Associated Press:

“That’s my plan,” Watson said after Wednesday’s practice. “I say it every week — obviously just leaving it up to the trainers — but my goal and my plan is to play this week.”

Now in his fourth season in the league, Watson posted a career-high 620 receiving yards with two touchdowns on 29 receptions and 53 targets through 15 games in the 2024 campaign.
