Cincinnati Bengals' newest front office hires confirm just how much they valued one of their scouts who left for a promotion

The Cincinnati Bengals' scouting department is growing, even after the departure of Christian Sarkisian.

Sarkiasian, who spent seven years scouting for Cincinnati, is now the general manager of Northwestern athletics. The club hired Trey LaBounty as a scouting research assistant last week, and per a new report, they're making two more hires as well.

Succeed in Football's Neil Stratton reports the Bengals are adding Josh Hinch and Tyler Ramsey as scouts.

Hinch most recently scouting the southeastern part of the country for the New England Patriots, which was the area Sarkisian was responsible for. He started out as a pro scout in 2021. His previous work experience include player personnel director roles in both the XFL and AAF as well as minor roles with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and college programs South Carolina and, coincidentally, Northwestern. South Carolina is where Hinch played football as a running back and graduated from.

Ramsey's most recent gig had him scouting for the Senior Bowl during the 2024 season. He took the job after serving three years as the Carolina Panthers' assistant director of player personnel from 2022-24. He was a national scout for Carolina in 2021. Ramsey has strong west coast ties as he spent nine years scouting the area for the Seattle Seahawks from 2012-21. He was a pro personnel assistant for the club from 2009-12. He also graduated from Washington.

The Bengals don't undergo much turnover with their scouting department, so to see one scout leave and essentially three walk through the door right afterwards seems pretty telling. Sarkisian earned plenty of trust and responsibilities after seven years working with the tight-knit front office. Replacing him may take more than just one new set of eyes.

The scouting process never quite stops in the NFL, so when these hires become official, Hinch and Ramsey will be picking up right where Sarkisian left off.
