Coming into the year, C.J. Stroud was the standard of excellence for rookie quarterbacks. But after seeing Jayden Daniels do what he's done, the Texans QB had some extremely high praise for what the No. 2 pick's been able to accomplish.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, C.J. expressed how proud he is of Daniels. Calling Jayden's season the best of "all-time."
"I'm so proud of him. In my opinion, he's had the best rookie year of all-time," Stroud said. "We talk a lot, and I'm just very, very, very, very, very happy for him, and very proud of him."
"I don't root for many other teams," the Pro Bowler admitted. "But I'm rooting for my boy. I'm rooting for the Commanders."
Stroud's Texans were eliminated from the playoffs after losing 23-14 to the Kansas City Chiefs, while Jayden Daniels has lifted Washington to the NFC Championship for the first time since 1991.
Few people had the expectation that the Commanders would even have a winning record, let alone be one win away from the Super Bowl — but Daniels' arrival has changed life in the nation's capital and this team has fight.
It's not going to be easy to upset the Eagles on the road this weekend. But how many people gave them a chance to knock off the Lions on Saturday night?
Washington opens as six-point underdogs to Philly, according to ESPN BET. And the network's Football Power Index doesn't love them at all in this spot.
Is this where the magic carpet ride ends? Or do Daniels and the Commanders make history against their hated division rival?
